The International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) is the first and only international organization for all prosecutors around the world to which the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Türkiye is an institutional member since 2014.

       The 1^st Pan European Regional Conference on “Effective Investigation in the Age of Digitalization” was held in Istanbul between 2-5 May 2023, hosted by the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal under the auspices of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).

         This Conference has a historical importance as the year 2023 is the 100^th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye.

      General Prosecutors, Deputy General Prosecutors and senior prosecutors from 32 countries with the contributions of expert speakers from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Netherlands, England, USA, Italy, Switzerland, Azerbaijan and Türkiye, participated to the Conference, which consisted of three sessions.

      During the Conference; topics of “Appearance and Effects of Digitalization in the Criminal Procedure”, “Fighting Against Economic Crimes in the Age of Digitalization”, and “Artificial Intelligence in Criminal Procedure” were discussed; the knowledge and experiences of the countries were shared; and the challenges faced in practice, necessary legal regulations and solutions in order to carry out an effective investigation for the crimes committed in the digital environment were evaluated.

       Also, during the Conference, the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Bekir Şahin held bilateral meetings with the Prosecutor Generals of Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Finland, Georgia, Morocco, Thailand, Tajikistan; and the Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan.

Director of Public Prosecutions of the United Kingdom Mr. Max Hill paid an official visit to the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal on 8 February 2023 with an accompanying delegation consisting of the Head of International Division Mr. Robin Weyell, Liaison Prosecutor at the Embassy of the United Kingdom Ms. Holly Scott-Mason, and Private Secretary Ms. Siobhan Billington. During the meeting held with the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Bekir Şahin, mutual information and opinions were exchanged regarding the duties and powers of the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Within the framework of the visit held between 6-9 February 2023, Director of Public Prosecutions of the United Kingdom Mr. Max Hill and his delegation had meetings with the Presidency of the Supreme Court of Appeal, the Ministry of Justice, Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, and Justice Academy of Türkiye.

Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Ivan Geshev paid an official visit to Mr. Bekir Şahin, the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal on 11 January 2023. The accompanying delegation of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Ivan Geshev consisted of Head of International Department Mr. Tsvetomir Yosifov and Prosecutor Responsible for Public Relations Ms. Marchela Pantaleeva.

Within the framework of the visit held between 10-12 January 2023, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Ivan Geshev and his delegation had meetings at the Presidency of the Supreme Court of Appeal, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice.

Mr. Mehmet Akarca, President of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Türkiye and Mr. Bekir Şahin, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal paid an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco between 30 November – 4 December 2022 upon the invitations of Mr. M’hammed Abdenabaoui, First President of the Court of Cassation and President Delegate of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power of the Kingdom of Morocco and Mr. El Hassan Daki, President of the Public Prosecution. The accompanying delegation consisted of Mr. Mehmet Kasım Çetin, Member of the Second Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Mr. Mustafa Doğru, Member of the Third Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeal and Dr. İlknur Altuntaş, Senior Prosecutor Responsible for the International Relations at the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal.

During the visit, the delegation had meetings with the First President of the Court of Cassation and the President Delegate of the Supreme Council of the Judicial Power of the Kingdom of Morocco, President of the Public Prosecution and Minister of Justice. Also, the delegation visited the Regional Court of Appeal in Rabat.

      Chief Justice of the People's Supreme Court the Republic of Cuba Dr. Ruben Remigio Ferro and accompanying delegation, visiting Ankara upon the official invitation of the Presidency of the Supreme Court of Appeal, paid an official visit to the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal on 25 November 2022.

         During the meeting held with the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Bekir Şahin and his delegation, mutual information and opinions were exchanged regarding the duties and powers of the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal.
