The third online meeting which is the second of four separate activities envisaged to be carried out by the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal within the scope of our country’s 2020-2021 chairmanship term for the Southeast European Cooperation Process was held on “combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling” on 28 April 2021.

Prosecutors from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Greece participated in the meeting. Dr. Vehbi Kadri Kamer, Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Turkey made a presentation. Mrs. Eliora Elezi, Prosecutor at the Prosecution of District of Kruja of Albania, Ms. Merisa Nurkic, Prosecutor at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mr. Ventsislav Ferdinandov, Prosecutor at the Specialized Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Areti Skafida, Deputy Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Athens of Greece, Mr. Lampros Tsogkas, Deputy Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Thrace of Greece, Mr. Sergiu Russu, Prosecutor, Chief of the Unit for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Adrian Petre Tudoran, Prosecutor at the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism of Romania, Ms. Tamara Mirovic, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor at the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office of Republic of Serbia, Mr. Marko Milicevic, Advisor at the Republic Public Prosecutor's Office of Serbia attended the meeting.

During the meeting, legal regulations on human trafficking and migrant smuggling, the best practices, challenges faced in practice and solutions were evaluated by the participants.

Prosecutors from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Greece participated in the meeting. Ms. Canan Kaya, Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Turkey made a presentation. Mrs. Dhorina Theodhori, Head of Prosecution Office of District of Korca of Albania, Mr. Mirza Hukeljic, Prosecutor at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ms. Vanya Nestrova, Prosecutor at Analytical Department of the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Georgios Karatsalos, Deputy Prosecutor at the First Instance Court of Athens of Greece, Ms. Carolina Vicol, Prosecutor of the Department for International Cooperation and European Integration of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Moldova, Ms. Katerina Kolarevikj, Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office Skopje of North Macedonia, Mr. Romulus Varga, Prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office Attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania, Mr. Branislav Lepotic, Higher Public Prosecutor and Head of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad of Serbia attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the exercise of prosecution services, measures taken, and challenges faced in practice were evaluated by the participants.

Prosecutors from Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Greece participated in the meeting. Dr. Sacit Yılmaz, Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Turkey made a presentation. Mr. Nicolav Popov, Prosecutor at Specialized Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Vladimir Miloseski, Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office Skopje of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Maxim Motinga, Public Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crimes and Special Cases of Moldova, Mr. Valentin Mihai, Prosecutor at the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism of Romania, Mr. Boris Majlat, Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Cybercrime Prosecutor’s Office of Serbia and Mr. Lampros Patsavellas, Deputy Prosecutor at the Court of the Appeal of Corfu of Greece attended the meeting.

During the meeting, legal regulations on combating cybercrime, the best practices, challenges faced in practice and solutions were evaluated by the participants.

Vocational training program which is the first of four separate activities envisaged to be carried out by the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal within the scope of our country’s 2020-2021 chairmanship term for the Southeast European Cooperation Process was held on April 11-16, 2021 in Ankara. Prosecutors from Albania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Moldova and Romania participated in the Program. The delegation consisted of Mr. Ols Dado, Director of Department of Foreign Jurisdictional Relations of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Albania, Mrs. Ervisa Hyka, Prosecutor of Fier District Prosecution from Albania, Mr. Kalin AsenovStoilov, Deputy Head of the Specialized Prosecutors Office of Bulgaria, Mr. Kiril Svetlozarov Peychinov, Prosecutor at the Specialized Prosecutors Office of Bulgaria, Mr. Atdhe Dema and Mr. Ilir Morina, Special Prosecutors from Kosovo, Mrs. Carolina Vıdrașcu-Brînza, Special Prosecutor of the General Prosecutor's Office of Moldova, Mr. Dumitru Obadă, Prosecutor, Chief of the Unit of Criminological Analysis, Legal Opinions and Legislative Proposals of the General Prosecutor Office, Mrs. Veronica Jalbă, Prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor's Office attached to the Constanța Local Court of Romania and Mr. Constantin Alexandru Nistor Cîrstoc, Prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of District 5 Bucharest. 
Within the scope of the program, information was given about the Turkish judicial system by emphasizing the importance of developing distinctive cooperation mechanisms among the countries in the region for an effective fight against transnational crimes and evaluations were made on the challenges in international mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. The President of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Mr. Mehmet Akarca and the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Mr. Bekir Şahin received the Delegation. Also the delegation visited the Justice Academy of Turkey, the Regional Court of Appeal and the Beypazarı Courthouse.

            General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Kamran Aliyev paid an official visit to Ankara between 14-17 February 2021 upon the invitation of the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Bekir Şahin. The accompanying delegation of the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Kamran Aliyev consisted of Deputy General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Heydar Mammadov, General Prosecutor of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic Mr. Sabuhi Şahverdiyev, Director General of International Law Cooperation Mr. Erkin Alihanov, and Chief Prosecutor of Gence Province Mr. Azad Garayev.

             It was the first visit of the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Kamran Aliyev after the victory of Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh.

            During the meetings held within the framework of the visit, further strengthening of the existing legal cooperation between two brother countries, which are grounded on the notion “One Nation Two States”, was evaluated and mutual opinions were exchanged. The development of legal cooperation was evaluated within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 16 March 2015 in order to strengthen cooperation and share experiences between the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal.

         During the visit, the Azerbaijan delegation was received by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Mr. Aliyev and his delegation had meetings with the President of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Mehmet Akarca, and the Minister of Justice Mr. Abdulhamit Gül; and they, also, visited Ankara Regional Court of Appeal and Turkish Justice Academy.
