Mr. Yazeed Makhloof, Vice President of the Palestinian Bar Association and accompanying delegation, visiting Ankara upon the official invitation of Adv. Prof. Dr. Metin Feyzioğlu, President of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, paid an official visit to the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal on 15 September 2021.

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Bekir Şahin, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal. During the meeting, mutual information and opinions were exchanged regarding the duties and powers of the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal.

General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Bekir Şahin and Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Dr. Sacit Yılmaz participated in "the Judicial Seminar and Solemn Hearing of the European Court of Human Rights" held by the European Court of Human Rights on 10 September 2021 in Strasbourg/France upon the official invitation of Mr. Robert Spano, President of the European Court of Human Rights. 

Within the scope of the visit, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Bekir Şahin held bilateral meeting with Judge of the European Court of Human Rights Ms. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saadet Yüksel.

New judicial year meeting and new facility building introductory meeting were held with the participation of Mr. Bekir Şahin, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Mr. Rıdvan Gündoğdu, Deputy General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal, and all Prosecutors of the Supreme Court of Appeal at the ground floor multi-purpose meeting hall on Monday, 6 September 2021. Meeting was followed by a cocktail in the foyer area.

            Mr. Bekir Şahin, the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Mr. Bahattin Azizağaoğlu and Ms. Dr. İlknur Altuntaş, Public Prosecutors of the Supreme Court of Appeal attended "the Conference of Heads of Prosecutor’s Offices of European States" upon the invitation of  Mr. Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of Russian Federation which was held between 6-9 July 2021 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. 

            Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, Prosecutor General of Belarus, Prosecutor General of Armenia, Deputy Attorney General of Croatia, Prosecutor General of Southern Cyprus, Deputy Prosecutor General of Greece, Attorney General of the Court of Cassation of Italy, Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan, Public Prosecutor of North Macedonia, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor of Serbia, General Prosecutor of the Slovakia, State Prosecutor General of Slovenia, Prosecutor General of Tajikistan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey and Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, as well as President and Secretary General of the International Association of Prosecutors, Director General on Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, President of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE), President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), Vice-President of the Venice Commission, Members of the Venice Convention from the Russian Federation attended the Conference on "Role of Prosecutor's Offices in Protection of Individual Rights and Public Interest in Light of Requirements of the European Convention on Human Rights" held by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in conjunction with the Council of Europe and International Association of Prosecutors.

            A bilateral meeting was held with Mr. Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, and his delegation; it was decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal; and during the meeting, Draft Memorandum of Understanding, prepared by our General Prosecution Office, was submitted by Mr. Şahin for review.

            Bilateral meetings were held with the President and the Secretary General of the International Association of Prosecutors, and the bid file for holding the 10th Eastern Europe and Central Asian Regional Conference in Istanbul in May, 2023 was submitted.

            Evaluations were made on draft document on the establishment of the Council of General Prosecutors of Turkic Speaking States, which is envisaged to be established by the joint initiative of the General Prosecution Office of the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.

            Mr. Şahin was awarded with a “medal” by Mr. Nigmatilla Yoldaşev, Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, for his contribution to the development of cooperation between the Prosecutor's Offices of the two countries.

            In the second session of the Conference of Heads of Prosecutor’s Offices of European States, Mr. Şahin, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal made a presentation on "Role of Public Prosecutors outside the Criminal Justice System" within the Framework of Recommendation No. CM/REC (2012)11.

            Mr. Şahin visited our Consulate General in St. Petersburg; he expressed his condolences for Mehmet Ferhan Yorulmaz, Consul General in St. Petersburg, who died as a result of illness and Mr. Şahin signed the condolence book.

       Mr. Bekir Şahin, the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal, Ms. Dr. İlknur Altuntaş and Mr. Murat Öksüz, Public Prosecutors of the Supreme Court of Appeal attended "the 2nd Working Forum for the Balkan States' General Prosecutors" upon the invitation of Mr. Ivan Geshev, Prosecutor General of Bulgaria which was held between 23-25 June 2021 in Sofia. 
       High-level participants from the General Prosecution Offices of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey and Greece attended the 2nd Working Forum for the Balkan States' General Prosecutors. Mr. Bekir Şahin, the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal, gave the opening speech of the Forum and made a presentation on "the Role of Prosecution Institutions in Fostering the Rule of Law". In the Forum, it was decided that the 3rd Working Forum for the Balkan States' General Prosecutors will be held in Romania in May, 2022.
