
General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal Mr. Muhsin Şentürk participated in a high-level session titled "Mobilizing Law Enforcement for Enhanced Climate Action" at the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held on November 15, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Mr. Şentürk was accompanied by Prosecutors at the General Prosecution Office of Supreme Court of Appeal, Mrs. Seda Türkan Manav Dursun and Mrs. Semra Özdinç.
During the conference, the need to strengthen law enforcement in order to protect biodiversity and combat environmental crimes was emphasized. Specifically, it was highlighted that international cooperation should be increased in the fight against crimes such as illegal logging, wildlife trafficking, and marine pollution. It was also stressed that legal frameworks should be improved, and justice systems should be integrated into climate change and biodiversity agendas. Furthermore, strategies were discussed to reduce the carbon footprint of law enforcement agencies through the adoption of renewable energy, digital technologies, and energy-efficient practices.
Mr. Şentürk and his accompanying delegation also visited the Türkiye Pavilion and the Zero Waste Türkiye Pavilion set up within the context of COP29. Within the context of this visit, a meeting was held with the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, Mr. Kamran Aliyev, in his office.
