GENERAL PROSECUTOR OF THE SUPREME COURT OF APPEAL
Born in Şirvan/Siirt on 21.01.1963, Mehmet Akarca graduated from the Law Faculty of Dokuz Eylül University in 1986, and performed his military service as a short-term conscript in Kütahya.
Commencing the profession as a candidate judge in Izmir, Mr. Akarca served, in chronological order, as the Judge of Ulubey/Uşak; Gevaş/Van; Sultanhisar/Aydın; the President of Heavy Penal Court in Sivas, Kütahya, Karşıyaka/İzmir and Head of Judiciary Commission in Kütahya.
Mr. Akarca was selected as a member to the Supreme Court of Appeal on 18.01.2010, and selected as the President of Fourteenth Criminal Chamber by the Grand General Assembly of the Supreme Court of Appeal on 21.10.2013. While on this post, on 18.05.2015 he was selected as the General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal for a four year term by the President of the Republic from five candidates nominated by the Grand General Assembly. Married with two children.
